Political news in brief

Koziol plans upcoming meet-and-greet
Friends of Oneida County Executive candidate Leon Koziol will hold a meet-and-greet during the two remaining Saturdays before the Nov. 6 election.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served.

The first event is from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles on Cosby Manor Road in Deerfield.

The second event is from 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 at the Nothin’ Fancy CafĂ© on Ruth Street in Vernon.

All Oneida County residents are invited to hear Koziol’s priorities and objectives. For more information, call Ralph Dittenhoefer at 896-2157.

Thursday: 7:30 to 8 p.m., District Attorney race, Scott McNamara and David Longeretta.
6 unions endorse McNamara for DA
UTICA – Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara has been endorsed by six additional unions in this year’s campaign for district attorney.

The six unions include: Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local Union 2; Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, Local 30; International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 545; Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local 35; Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 58; and the Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers, Local 182.

Martin Gay, business manager for the Sheet Metal Workers union, said McNamara’s experience “has benefited all the working people of Oneida County,” according to a released statement.

Tim Hogan of the Teamsters union said his union was impressed with McNamara’s “initiative in partnering with local law enforcement in the fight against crime to protect all of the members of our community.”

McNamara is the Democratic candidate, and his Republican opponent is Utica attorney David Longeretta.
