Arpaio Threatened on Social Networks

Arpaio Threatened on Social Networks

SAN DIEGO - Police in San Diego are beefing up security as Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio heads there to make a speech.

Back in August, protesters were there and Thursday night's speech will be no different.

Now, San Diego police and Marriott hotel security are upping security around him because of high traffic on social networks over Arpaio's "vile and outrageous behavior."

The protesters believe Arpaio is one of the main culprits of division and deception in America.

The online chatter escalated in the hours after the Tucson shooting on January 8.

Arpaio says the protesters have a right to be there, just as he does.

"That's freedom of speech..don't they have a right to speak out? They call me Hitler or a Nazi, but I have a right to speak out too," he said.

The Sheriff will be speaking to about a thousand people, mostly about illegal immigration.

Arpaio said he's not worried and will continue to enforce laws.
