Liberty. It’s a simple idea, but it’s also the linchpin of a complex system of values and practices: justice, prosperity, responsibility, toleration, cooperation, and peace. Many people believe that liberty is the core political value of modern civilization itself, the one that gives substance and form to all the other values of social life. They’re called libertarians.

Why are GOP candidates kissing Trump’s ring?
There’s a bizarre trend happening among GOP candidates – nearly all of them have a seemingly ritualistic meeting with Donald Trump. Especially bizarre considering Trump is certainly not conservative by any standard and he’s clearly self promoting above all else – even stating he may still run as an independent. Why in the world would A) he be able to moderate a debate and B) other candidates bother meeting with him?
“Why is everyone kissing the ring of Donald Trump?” Glenn asked listeners. “He’s not conservative at all.”
“I like the Donald, he’s fine, he’s a nice guy, he gets things done here in New York. You know, I don’t think he’s corrupt.”
“Everybody’s like, ‘I’ve got to have a slice of pie with Donald Trump.’ Well, no. No, you don’t,” Glenn added.
The radio crew discussed his continuing flirtation with a 2012 candidacy, with everyone agreeing that no one should or would vote for him.
“Donald Trump is keeping the door open for a third‑party run for the same reason he kept the door open for a Republican run. Because it gets people talking about him,” Stu said.
Regardless of whether or not he is running – the radio crew wondered why he is moderating a debate and meeting with candidates.
“I just don’t know why Newt Gingrich is meeting with the Donald at this point,” Glenn said.
“It is extraordinarily, extraordinarily important that those with eyes and ears listen and hear. And watch what’s happening in our political forum. You’re being duped. Candidates are being selected for you. Watch how the system works. How is Newt Gingrich the guy? How does ‑‑ how is that happening? What is happening? Ron Paul is shooting up. Ron Paul will be a third candidate if you have Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich as your guy. He will. I can’t pull the lever for Newt Gingrich. I can’t pull the lever for Barack Obama. I could probably pull the lever for Romney because I think Romney could fix it, but that’s not the fix. That’s a temporary Band‑Aid,” Glenn said.
Glenn encouraged listeners to watch all the happenings in the next few weeks and months and to do their own homework on each of the candidates rather than be fooled by snappy speeches, slick political ads, and a biased media.
