Thank You For the vote of confidence

by

I want to thank all my readers who contributed to the success of our late summer fundraising drive. It was, for some reason, a lot easier this time. Once again, I am overwhelmed and a little in awe of the tremendous generosity of Antiwar.com’s many friends and supporters. We’ve been relying on them to keep the ship afloat for the past 15 years or so, and I am humbled by their consistency and willingness to stick with us through thick and thin.
We here at Antiwar.com would just love it if we didn’t have to go through these fundraisers four times a year: each time it’s a cliff-hanger, with our very existence hanging in the balance — and that can be stressful, to say the very least.

One way to eliminate this stress is for our readers and supporters to make a monthly donation — and we do give them this option. If more took it, it would solve our problem quite neatly. So please: help us eliminate the fundraisers by becoming a monthly Sustainer.
Although the fundraiser was less of an uphill battle this time around, it was no less exhausting — who do you think writes all that exhortatory copy asking our readers to contribute? As the years pass by, I am increasingly depleted at the conclusion of yet another campaign to close the ever-yawning gap between what we need to carry on our fight and our perpetually-diminishing bank account — which is why you’re reading this extended thank-you note instead of my regular column. It’s Labor Day, not a holiday I identify with ideologically, but I’m taking it off anyway.
But not before I let you in on the latest: I’m going on a speaking tour this fall! We’re taking the antiwar cause to the nation’s campuses, in hopes of waking them out of their slumber — and anywhere else that needs waking. If you’d like to book me as a speaker, contact Michael Austin at: Austin@antiwar.com.
Again — thanks to all of you who made the Antiwar.com fundraiser such a success. Your vote of confidence gives us not only the funds but also the confidence to go forward.
