Why Gun Dealers Grudgingly Credit Obama

Guns SC Why gun dealers grudgingly credit Obama
President Obama has been rightfully criticized by conservatives for his hostile attitude toward small business. Certain business owners, however, said the president has helped their respective bottom lines significantly — and completely by accident.
Concern about how leftist policies might negatively impact Second Amendment rights has resulted in record gun sales and related FBI background checks.

The development led one Texas gun store owner to call Obama “the greatest gun salesman of all time,” adding that whenever “he talks about guns, sales go through the roof.”
Corresponding with Obama’s first election win, the FBI conducted about 1.5 million more background checks in 2008 than in the previous year. That number rose steadily throughout his first term.
Apparently in preparation of expected semi-automatic weapon bans, a Colorado gun store owner said such guns have been flying off his shelves.
Shortly after Obama’s reelection, he said sales of so-called “assault rifles” more than tripled the usual rate.
“I stocked up,” he said. “I got a stockpile of these AK-47s, we’re selling these like hot cakes. Luckily I had an idea of what was going on because it happened with Clinton.”
Though he hasn’t explicitly embraced Bill Clinton-style gun bans, Obama did mention his support of such legislation in a 2012 presidential debate.
“What I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally,” he said. “Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced.”
Not all of the increased gun sales can be attributed to an anticipated loss of freedom, though. Some buyers feel a firearm arsenal will be the only way to survive in an uncertain American future.
One individual, who said he has been stockpiling guns since the 2008 election, called his collection “my Obama hedge fund,” explaining he and several colleagues have bought guns for security reasons.
“As the economy gets tougher and as the country grows its debt, people are going to become desperate and … they will turn to stealing and robbing and violence,” he added.
It is a stretch to call the unintended rise in gun sales a silver lining when a black cloud of socialism and ineptness continues to prevail among our nation’s leaders. Still, as abhorrent as the left finds guns and gun dealers, it is a bit of sweet justice that their very policies have actually helped these same people get rich.
