There’s been no leadership to fix the looming “fiscal cliff” and end the uncertainty in the economy, Donald Trump told CNBC’s “Closing Bell” on Thursday.

The
fiscal cliff refers to the expiration of tax cuts that expire at the end
of the year and the automatic spending cuts that go into effect at the
same time.
Trump
said President Barack Obama needs to get everyone into a room to make a
deal. “Otherwise,” he warned, “this country is in big trouble.”

While
a deal may not happen before the election, Trump said a “deal needs to
be made now. They would be so well off to stop with waiting.”
Trump is a vocal critic of the president and has previously questioned whether Obama was born in the United States.
He
doesn’t think this will happen unless the president starts to focus on
boosting employment. “Jobs are getting worse, people are cutting back,
there’s great uncertainty and it’s a mess,” Trump said.
